Entitlement
Ownership is entitlement, but the entitlement brings responsibility. A responsibility that should be more than do no harm.
If you are going to take ownership, what responsibilities do you feel you assume?
Does your care result in a sub/slave who also feels a sense of entitlement?

Ownership and Entitlement
My friend over at A View from the Top posted this as a discussion piece on A Thinking Dominant. We have been discussing aspects of this topic for awhile now but this question defines the basic notion. If I own my girl what am I entitled to? The quick and easy answer to this is question is anything I want however as most of you know I rarely go with the quick and easy.
Entitlement is a discussion on what I as the dominant are allowed to do. The reality is almost nothing we own is free for us to do with as we please. I would also go so far as to say the more valuable and complicated the item the less of an entitlement we have with that object.
I own a house in a city suburb, I am not allowed to let it fall below a certain level of repair if I do the city will come and fix it and send me the bill. If I don’t pay they add it to my taxes if I don’t pay those they take my house. I cannot burn it down for the fun of it, even if I am not trying to defraud the insurance company it is illegal and I will be charged with arson. I also own a car and the list of things I am not entitled to with that are endless. I am not entitled to drive any speed I want, I can’t drive anywhere I want, I am not allowed to park as I please, I don’t get to choose the level of repair or tire type and on and on and on.
Obviously I own a computer and I am connected to the internet as are you. Spend some time surfing kiddie porn and downloading those images or trying to hack the CIA and you will find out in short order how much you are not entitled to do as you please.
So this brings us back to the world of D/s and M/s. Why on earth would I think as a Master and slave owner I am entitled to anything I want. After all she is easily the most valuable and definitely the most complicated thing I own. I am entitled to the things that we have agreed to in the power exchange relationship as is she. I am not entitled to abuse her or break her. I am entitled to be a kind master, a demanding master, I am entitled to be a decent human being and I am entitled to the joy of intelligent ownership.
